Am currently stuck in hotel room, sleeping toddler on chest, w/nothing but phone for distraction, so you get a post! Hurray!

So we are in St. Louis at last. Drive was loooooong but went well. Only Iowa was really painful and well, they get a pass for yesterday's news (same-sex marriage ban lifted). Aiden adapted remarkably well to being in the car all day. We made tourist stops at Devil's Tower in WY and Wall Drug in SD, both fun. Want to go back to SD for a "real" vacation sometime. There's so much nifty and beautiful stuff there if you're willing to put up with the work to get there.

Our cunning plan to twitter/LJ the trip was thwarted by the utter lack of cell coverage between Spokane and Kansas City, and poor internet at best at the hotels we stopped at.

Anyway. We're here. Got in late Thurs. about an hour behind wavecrest09, who was driving the moving truck. tzaddi_93 flew in Wed. with our cat. House is gorgeous and happy-making. Pro moving help flaked on us yesterday, but thanks to friends got some 40% of the truck unloaded anyway. Aiden did more running about than in the previous entire week. Poor kitty is locked in bathroom until truck is emptied.

Previous tenant was apparently a useless *&@#. Left a $2K gas bill, which meant the gas company refused to turn the gas on w/o unreasonable and possibly illegal amounts of proof that we weren't That Guy. This meant no heat yesterday, thus last night we ended up in what hopefully will be the last hotel for a Very Long Time.

I've reluctantly come to the conclusion that I've acquired Yet Another Head Cold, which I suppose is better than the alternative hypothesis of being allergic to spring in MO. Trying to take it easy today while keeping lordandrei from running himself into the ground. C. and I can collapse once Aiden goes to daycare Monday; Andrei has to go start his new job!

Typing this much with only thumbs is making my arms want to fall off, plus the little one is stirring. So going to wrap this up. *waves*

Welcome home (new one). Glad you're there and no longer moving. May the unpacking and making it home go smoothly. Be/do art! *hugs*

The bad news: you very well may be allergic to spring in Missouri. The St. Louis area is one of the worse for allergies, since it's so damp and fertile. Mold, pollen, spores, you name it, we got it.

More bad news: Laclede Gas has a track record of poor customer service and pettiness. I hope you get the gas turned on soon.

But here's the good news: you're here in time for opening day! St Louis is obsessed with baseball. We take on the Pirates at 3:15 on Monday, but the festivities will start hours before with pep rallies (really!) and a parade.

Even better good news: the Children's Garden has just re-opened. It's an exhibit area at the Missouri Botanical Garden that will be great for Aiden.

The Botanical Garden is one of the few neat places to take kids here that even charges an entrance fee: the Zoo, Science Center, Art Museum, and Cahokia Mounds are all free. OK, so you do have to pay to get into the Magic House or the City Museum or the Butterfly House... but not much. :-)

Just now getting to LiveJournal and other things. This weekend has been insane. I am so sorry I missed the unpacking of the truck which seemed bent on making you crazy.

As for the sinus thing, yeah. Everyone I know is allergic to St Louis. And the Chesterfield Valley is really bad. I had a sinus headache for 4 months straight when I started working down there the first time. Everything runs straight through at 60 miles an hour and drags the dust along with it.

It is so cool you have already found daycare for your youngest! If I may ask, where are you sending him?

Yeah, I have enough allergies that I'm sure they're in effect here, but I'm pretty certain that most of my current misery is, in fact, a cold exacerbated by the sheer stress of the last month.

Aiden's at the La Petite Academy in Ballwin - it's less than 4 miles from our house! I dropped him off this morning and he sauntered right off with a big grin on his face :)

How awesome. I am never sure if I should be happy with the ease of transition like that or sad. Some mornings I get 7 hugs, other mornings I get a I SAID BYE MOM as he plays with trucks. I am glad he was ready to go.

Yeah, I cannot tell you how many people say they are allergic to St Louis. And the stress and the weather yo-yo doesn't help, I know. Last night at about 7 I was digging into my meds praying I had something that would keep me from wanting to remove my sinuses with a spoon. We are a house that comes prepared for that, though. I hope yours passes as you all settle in and things calm down. Nothing makes moving and stress more miserable than a cold.
