This seems to be a staggeringly useful concept. Or perhaps more accurately, a fantastic articulation of how I usually operate instinctively, and why I get so damned frustrated when people bitch without proposing an alternative solution.

Basically, if you bitch, you get responsibility for fixing it. As a result, fewer people bitch, and more shit gets done.

I agree with the lower standards problem. Right now, I'm usually the first one to notice that something is a mess or needs to be done in the house. And this happens for just about anything that's been left undone. If this system were followed, I'd be doing ALL the housework, all the time.

And that's not happening, because we've agreed to what I do and what he does, so there's less suffering involved. If (for instance) the dishes need to be done, I'll tell Marc about it, and he knows it's his job, so he'll get on that. I just usually notice first because they're in my way when I'm cooking.
