I love that icon. But drama llamas are not so good. Hopefully this one wanders off to other fields soon :P

it is a tricky slope.

sometimes silence does not protect anyone.

if the calling out is an expression of frusteration maybe thats just drama.

if the calling out has a benefit of ending abuse, it is NOT drama.

I've seen a lot of "calling out abuse" done over the years. Most of the time no direct action is ever taken, and the pattern continues unchanged. Occasionally this is not the case, but the longer the pattern continues, the less likely it is to be the exception.

What does happen (again, most of the time in my experience) is that people are dragged into situations that are none of their business knowing only some of the facts. This escalates things into gigantic, black-and-white duels where no resolution can ever happen because people are too polarized. Hence, no matter how well-meaning the original seed, drama ensues.

I'm on the distant fringes of half a dozen situations like this right now, and absolutely none of them are my business. I do feel the pull to get involved, because these are people I care about, but again - not my business, nor do I know enough about the situation to make it mine. Hence the banishing.

Drama sucks, no two ways about it. i do what I can to mitigate as much of it as I can in my life.
