that seductive beat

While I'm a fan of many types of music for many reasons, there's a certain musical beat that is nearly certain to make me like a song, even if I don't really want to. I have trouble quantifying it - it's driving, persistent, steady, but with an energy that never lets up.

I'm putting together a playlist of songs that have this beat. A number of these fall into the guilty pleasure category for me - I'd normally consider them pop crap, except for that damn seductive backbeat. (I'll leave it to you to decide which those are ;)

So far on it are:

A-Ha - Take On Me (Remix)
Don Henley - Boys of Summer
Bryan Adams - Summer of '69
Savage Garden - I Want You
The Cars - You May Think
Cher - Believe
The Cranberries - Dreams
Jennifer Lopez - Waiting for Tonight
Styx - Lorelei
Starship - We Built This City
A.R.A. - Serpentine
Xyr - Spectre

for all those songs I recognize, I agree.
All have an appealing beat - though I prefer the modern remake of Boys of Summer, which is unusual for me. Usually I go with the classic over the remake.

A-Ha - Take On Me

I LOVE this video. The "original" one (not the remix. Don't know if there is such a beast).
