Ooh!

They've made a miniseries of The Lion in Winter.

Normally I would be horrified, positive nothing could equal Katharine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole - but.

Patrick Stewart. And Glenn Close. By gods, I think they could pull it off.

Call me a snob, but I see Hepburn and O'Toole. I am heartily sick of remakes. You can't improve on perfection! Hollywood needs to figure out how to hire (or breed) talent, instead of relying on their ancestors' genius.
I guess I should be relieved that they didn't cast Britney Spears to play Eleanore. Or set it in modern hip-hop terms...like that awful Romeo and Juliet remake.

thanks the goat they didn't cast B.S. R&J? Please excuse me while I visit the vomitorium! Anyway, why can't such classics be treated like theater on the big screen? That's like saying that Shakespeare should never be STAGED again since the "perfects" have already gone before. Theater has "successors" -- why can't cinema? If Close and Stewart bomb out the roles, then Hepburn and O'Toole just shine more brightly... (would that really be a bad thing?)
