Ooh!

They've made a miniseries of The Lion in Winter.

Normally I would be horrified, positive nothing could equal Katharine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole - but.

Patrick Stewart. And Glenn Close. By gods, I think they could pull it off.

Hopkins could do it (and work out any Oedipal issues he might have after debuting on screen as Richard in the older film).

And I see Sian Phillips toured as Eleanor in the 90's - you may recall her as Livia Augusta in I, Claudius, the series that first put a bewigged Patrick Stewart in front of US viewers as Aelius Sejanus. She'd rock.

Close puts me to sleep, but that's just me. I didn't like her Gertrude, and prayed for death watching her onstage in Sunset Boulevard, though to be fair to the lady, the material she had to deliver was just putrid (wossname, Webber, at his prodigious worst).
