mwahaha

That AFA poll on gay marriage that's been floating all over LJ has made it up to 41.25% in favor.

The downside, of course, is that the new result is no less biased than it was before LJ got ahold of it. It's just setting one self-selecting special interest group against another. Neither is good statistics, or an even vaguely realistic portrait of the public opinion. Which everyone in politics seems to have forgotten.

Oh well. I will go play pool with shaktiqueen and i_am_lono tonight, and pretend that the balls are pollsters and politicians. Woohoo!

hmm, interesting. the current results, 17 hours later, are 46.01% against, 46.42% in favor, and 7.57% for a "civil union" with all the benefits, but without the name.

And, gee, now the site is offline.

Either LJ users overloaded the server, or they didn't like the way their poll was going so they've withdrawn it...

ah, self-selecting samples.

this, and other statistical fallacies, coming up next on Fox: "when opinion polls attack!"

it makes for absolutely horrid science, but that doesn't really seem like the original point of the survey, now does it?

wonder if they'll still submit it to congress.
