oh, fuck

The Norwescon Art Show is sold out already?! ^!%$@$&^%$#$@(*

ok. well, that makes my April simpler, at least. must maintain grip on bright side.

(gods damn it. I really wanted to see Michael Whelan. but if I can't be in the art show, there's no way I can justify the cost of a con membership.)

What kind of art do they have there? is it an indoor booth type show?
I have heard of Norwescon but have never been.

Re:
It's a science fiction and fantasy convention, with the art show along the same lines. The theme of this year's con is dragons.

I haven't been to Norwescon before, but at other similar cons it's an indoor gallery-type setup (mostly pegboards for hanging stuff and some tables); sometimes things can be bought outright, usually it's a silent auction with a voice auction at the end for pieces with more than some number of bids.

Sold out "already"? I'm surprised you waited so long...I bet they've been sold out of space for a couple of months. This *is* the biggest con in the Northwest, as far as I know, *and* Michael Whelan is going to be there this year. Not that this will make you feel any better, though. :)

Re:
They still had space at the end of January. I had a couple of questions I needed to ask them - and then time got away from me.

(All the East Coast cons tend to have space up until a week or two beforehand. Yeah, I should have done it earlier, but it honestly didn't occur to me that they would sell out six weeks before.)

Bah, who pays for NorWes??
Last year I even got a membership for the full weekend for free and didn't use it...
Oh well, I'm not going this year since I'll be wasting all my cash at SakuraCon (and running a couple rpgs)...
Me getting in to NorWes free is a long story, but next time we see each other remind me and I'll tell you the tale...
