Re: can we just compress the midwest?
Compress it? How about get rid of it altogether? After living here for a bit over a year, I've decided that the Midwest officially has NOTHING of value.

We're moving out of here no later than the end of April. The fun of it is that we don't know WHERE we're moving to. If ef2p gets a job, it'll be self explanitory. If not, well...then we need to decide. I'm leaning towards back to Pittsburgh as a temporary thing, he's leaning towards something like Portland.

Problem with Portland is we don't really know anyone there. Don't think we can happily afford Seattle on just my salary. And I'm ready to pull my hair out due to my job. Need a new one!

Portland is a pretty cool city - and it's not *that* far from Seattle :)

And Seattle's really not all that expensive, though I guess it depends on whether you want to buy a house right away, how close to the city you want to be, etc. Not that I have a bias towards you moving out here or anything ;)
