Verbing and Nouning
I like to think there's a special kind of hell for people who do that. Look up Harper's early journal entries for some really entertaining grammar rants, that subject was well covered. Just as twitchy as verbing of nouns makes me, there is a new evil afoot: nouning of verbs. I was at a company meeting Thursday and heard several top-level executives go on and on about how we needed to reduce our "spend."

*twitch*

What did we gain by dropping the "-ing" from that word? Just pretention. Ack.

An internal MITRE email - a secretary talking about the need to "surplus" old machines. *twitch*
